Schedule Information
There are 10 teams in the league in 2008. We have space and time for five games per Tuesday night and six when we use the 9:15 time slot for rain makeup games. Every team will play 9 league games. You will play each team one time in a single round robin format. There will be an elimination tournament at the end of the league season that will be seeded according to the league standings and will proceed with the NCAA playoff format whereby the top four seeds get two lives and the bottom six teams get just one life..
League Updates
The weekly standings will be posted on this web page. Game summaries will be published on this website as long as managers use first and last names of players on the lineup cards. No nicknames! League updates will not be saved on the website from week to the next. Articles and standings will also appear in the Poynette Press.
League Rules
1 - All Games will be 7 innings or one hour in length unless a team is ahead by 12 or more runs anytime after the fifth inning. Therefore there is a 12-Run rule this year.

2 - Teams can bat everyone that is at the game. If a player comes late, they may be added to the bottom of the batting order and they can go immediately into the field for defense. If a player is not there for the start of the game he must not be included on the lineup form turned in to the scorekeeper. If he is included and is not there to bat, that batting order position shall be an automatic out. If that player arrives after he has been an automatic out one or more times, he may still enter and play and bat where the manager had him listed. Managers should not include players who are not there at game time. If a player is injured or has to leave the game before it is over, that spot in the batting order is just skipped and an out is not recorded there. If a player is injured or can't run for himself once he is on base, the batter who made the previous out may run for him.

3 - A team must have 8 players to start a game. If players come late - see rule #2.

4 - Metal cleats are not legal

5 - No smoking on the field of play - clean dugouts out after last game of the night. Plastic bottles, cans etc. must go into the trash recepticles near or in the dugouts and bench areas.

6 - On the Back Diamond, a ball hit over the fence from the right field foul pole (yellow pole) to the end of the 10' high fence shall be a ground rule double. Any ball hit over the fence elsewhere shall be a home run.

7 - The pitch must be no lower than the batter's head. There is no rule on how high a pitch can be delivered.

8 - The pitcher's plate shall be 50' from the back point of home plate. Bases are 60' apart as per ASA and USSSA Rules.

9 - Any pitch that strikes rubber shall be a strike. All of home plate and the strike mat is a strike.

10 - The ASA banned bats shall be banned in the league. The list of banned bats shall be upgraded as the season progresses. If a batter appears in the batter's box with an banned bat and the defensive appeals it or if the umpire notices that it is a banned bat, the team shall forfeit the game.

11 - Games will start as scheduled or right after a preceding game has ended. They could start earlier than scheduled in an attempt to get finished earlier than would normally be required. Have your players there, ready to play, at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled game time.

12 - Three balls constitutes a base on balls and two strikes of any kind consititutes a strikeout.

13 - A player ejected from a game shall miss the next week's game as well. Team Leaders must control the action and behaviors of their players.

14 - For game information or rain-out information check www.fastpitchchronicle.com/PoynetteSP.html and listen to WIBU radio (1240 am)

15 - All teams will play each other one time in the round robin league format.

2008 League Elimination Tournament Schedule
Higher Seed will determine home team for all tournament games

How the brackets are decided

At the conclusion of the regular season the final standings will determine the seeds for the tournament. The top four seeds in the tournament will be given two lives (they have to be beaten twice to be eliminated). The other six teams will get one life. The top four teams will square off with the #1 taking on the the #4 and the #2 playing against the #3 seed. The losers of those two games will then fall down into the lower bracket with the other six teams. The winners of those first two games will play each other in the next round with the loser then dropping down into the lower bracket. The winner of the lower bracket will then have to beat the unbeaten team twice to win the title.

Good Luck to All Teams

Results from Week #1 - May 20, 2008

The 2008 Poynette men’s slowpitch league got underway last Tuesday night at Pauquette Park with five games being played.
There are 10 teams in the league this season and the title is really up for grabs. A single round robin schedule will be played which will be followed by an NCAA type tournament at the end. The top four teams from round robin play will be seeded and get two lives in the tournament while the bottom six teams will be given one life.
On Tuesday night perennial powerhouse Elsing Oil/BP Amoco dispatched Madison Truck Sales 17-2 in five innings. A 12-run fourth inning really separated the two teams. It was a combination of three errors, a few walks and five hits that led to a dozen runs for the winners in that inning. Kurt Marquardt had a pair of singles for the winners. Lucas Morse went 2x2 for Madison Truck Sales.
On the back diamond the season’s opening game saw Homestead take a six-inning win over Arlington Inn #1. Sam Morse led the Homestead offensive attack with four hits including two doubles while Jamie Moll also had four hits including a double and a triple. Chris Jackson went 4x4 for the winners as well. An eight-run sixth salted it away for Homestead. Cody Childs had three hits for Arlington Inn.
Arlington Inn #2 beat Inn Cognito 15-3 in the second game on the front diamond. A seven-run second inning boosted AI to the win. RB Kotnik went 3x3 for AI which included a double and a triple.
Out on the back diamond the second game was won by Frontier Bar Gray. The final was 16-6 over Research Products Corporation. The winners plated four runs in each of the first three innings and then scored two in the fifth and one in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the 12-run mercy rule. Carter Teela had four hits for the winners. Dan Crawford added four hits including a towering home run in left center. Matt Hutchinson had four hits including a double for Frontier Gray while Andy Reigel had three hits. Jay Flies homered in the first inning before coming up lame in the fourth inning. The final game of the night was the best one on the slate as Frontier Bar #3 beat Frontier Bar Red 9-5. Cam Radewan had a double and triple for the winners while Tom Blochwitz had two hits. Shannon Hornback and TJ Struck each had a double for the winning Frontier Bar team. Action takes place every Tuesday night at the park. The concession stand will always be open.
