League
Organization and General Guidelines
All Games are 80 minutes long maximum.
The first game begins at 9 am. The second games begin
at 10:30 am. When four teams are at a site, there is
a 10-minute break between rounds so the second game
begins on time. We want everyone finished up before
noon each week.
There are no rosters submitted, no standings
recorded, no scores reported, no team records kept or
anything that resembles playing for a championship.
The purpose of the league is to offer players a chance
to get in 10-12 more games before the snow flies get
pitchers more innings, batters more at bats and fielders
more chances to improve.
Teams should have nine players at the
venue to play but if a team is short of players we want
the games played. If the opposing team wishes to "lend"
players to the team that is short that works too. Team
leaders are encouraged to have nine players there for
their games, however.
League fees are $50 per week that you
wish to play. That fee must be paid before a team is
included in the scheduling process. Send it to Bob at
N4944 US Hwy 51, Poynette, WI 53955. If a week is rained
out, the teams will get a refund at the end of the season.
The league uses one umpire and that umpire
positions themself behind the catcher. They might miss
a close play here or there on the bases but having two
umpires would raise the league fee to double what it
is. One has worked superbly for the eight years that
the league has functioned.
Players should not be just from the same
high school but traveling teams are not really accepted.
Using girls from other schools is great so combining
to be sure you have enough willing players is fine and
encouraged.. There are no official rosters. Keep in
mind that 7th or 8th grade girls can be used and are
not considered by the WIAA to be your high school players
(they aren't in high school).
WIAA rules are generally used with some
exceptions such as - substituting and the number of
kids in the batting order. You can bat as many as you'd
like and if you bat more than 9 then you can subsititute
freely in the field. The batting order should not be
altered though. If a player is injured and needs a courtesy
runner just use the last out as the courtesy runner.
Players may wear metal cleats.
Pitching distance shall be 43 feet.
A team must provide a game useable ball
for each game played. It does not have to be a new ball
but it should be in good shape. The team gets the ball
back after the game is over.
In case of bad weather the venue hosts
for that week will contact the other teams due to play
at that venue. The league administrator does not make
weather-out contacts except for the Poynette venue when
that is being used. Venue hosts must report to Bob that
they are not playing or did not play on a given week.
Venue hosts must provide playable fields
and have fouls lines chalked. Running chutes are not
required. A pitcher's circle should also be marked on
the field. Venue hosts are encouraged to provide a concession
stand but it is not required. Venue hosts must
have restroom/toilet facilities available and
useable.
All games start on time but if there is
time before the first game and a team wants to take
infield practice, they can.
