Time All-State Players
Softball
players in Wisconsin were not recognized by the media as all
state until after the 1991 season. Poynette certainly had
players prior to that season that were among the elite players
in the state during their careers as Indians. Players such
as Nancy Mason, Karen Vogts, Tracy Elsing, Sue Saager,
Amy Holak, Teresa Kiefer, Sue Seaman, Robin Reddeman, Missy
Vaningan, Marni Vaningan, Brenda Hellegers, Cathy Rittmeyer,
Connie Baerwolf, Debbie Doherty, Tricia Caldwell, Kari Hoyheim
and others would surely have been in the running for such
an honor. Girls selected by the WFSCA as all state players
have their jerseys painted on the walls of the dugouts at
Diamond of Champions.

Nancy
Mason Career Achievement Award
Nancy Mason was the first-ever shortstop for Poynette's softball
program. She was a tough competitor whose skills levels were
far ahead of her time. She would even in this day and age
be the Poynette shortstop if she were just entering high school.
Nancy tragically died in a house fire that also took the lives
of her five children. Her jersey is painted on the ends of
both dugouts at Diamond of champions in honor of her. It is
our way of making sure that our softball program will never
forget the contributions she made and the height of the bar
she set. Starting in 2010 the coaching staff started choosing
a graduating softball player who had played all four years
in high school as the recipient of this award. The recipient's
jersey is added to the wall of the dugouts at Diamond of Champions.
2010
- Katlyn Saley - Second Base
2011 - Alisha Saley - Outfield
